Theology On Tap

Hi all

In recent weeks my parish has been advertising a Theology on Tap meeting in our community. The meetings take place in a pub/bar type restaurant and it is to encourage young adults to come together in a relaxed atomsphere. Each week a different topic is discussed to go deeper in to the theology. It is supported by alot of Catholic parishes.

Has anyone heard of these or attend? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Fellow Sister in Christ

It's starting this week in Chicago. My experience: mixed. There are some speakers that make you doublecheck your catechism. But at least the finale is a picnic at the cardinal's residence and Cardinal George will be available to at least say Hi to.

What diocese are you in?

We have a meeting once a month through our Newman Center on my college campus. It is lead by a priest each time. They are incredible eye opening and prayerful meetings, and being out there in the community opening with prayer before it starts, and at the end in a way is evangelization. Some people have even pulled up a chair. Trust me, there is NEVER focus on

Simply our faith.

We have one here, and I've gone twice. It was AWESOME. Good, orthodox speakers, including some priests, and it was PACKED every single time with young people...on Fridays and Saturdays when they'd normally be off doing who knows what. it was

We have one here. It's the last tuesday of every month. The speakers have been very good, for the most part, and the topics have been really interesting. The discussion after the talks is always great, too. Lots of university students, and other young people come. There are usually a couple priests and sisters there as well.

sounds pretty neat......our former priest sort of did something like that....every week our lifeteen group meets at a coffee shop for fellowship and then Fr. Roux came at like 930 and would give us some theology in a real relaxed atmosphere

hm.. I was wondering cause for us this was advertised as something for only young adults, like people over 18.
