MichaelFilo
I've been thinking about the ammendment that may or may not pass on Thursday, which says that marriage is between a man and a woman. I just thought about it and I realized just how much it means. This will set some big landmark in US history. If it isn't passed then gay marriage will be valid, and all those adopted kids will grow up thinking it's ok. Since most gays are generally not Catholic/Christian, many children will not have the Faith taught to them. Then you have to think about all the broken homes that gay marriages tend to lead to. It all comes from promiscuity ( Sp? ). The fact that a gay male sleeps with 300 guys in a life time should worry anybody. Sleeping around never made for solid famalies. Maybe I'm worrying to much, but I kinda think everyone isn't worrying enough. Here is an awesome link by the way so that you can add your name to a petition that says you are against gay marriage and want the ammendment to be passed. ClaireBear
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle! Prayer can accomplish awesome, awesome things! I think praying for our government and for all of the laws that will be passed (or not passed) in the upcoming months is definitely our best weapon. Sad as it is, what a totally great opportunity to step up and unite as Catholics (or Christians around the country to defend what's morally right! MichaelFilo, praise God that you feel as strongly opposed as you do, and that you can see the consequences that could result from this law being passed. So many Americans don't have the same insight/understanding.

MichaelFilo
I didn't think that many people would read or care, and I'm very happy that you did, thank you guys. I prayed for the ammendment being passed today at mass. I'll leave it God's hands, and I'll do what I can do.
yiannii
In Australia Marriage was defined by Prime Minister John Howard as a union specifically between a man and a woman. Funny enough the more 'liberal' opposition backed up the statement. I will pray for the US on this issue because many many countries keep their eyes on her actions. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
O Divine Eternal Father, in union with your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit, and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the power of your greatest enemy - the evil spirits. Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell and chain them there forever! Take possession of your Kingdom which You have created and which is rightfully yours. Heavenly Father, give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I repeat this prayer out of pure love for You with every beat of my heart and with every breath I take. Amen.
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Prayer for the Church We pray You, O almighty and eternal God! Who through Jesus Christ have revealed Your glory to all nations, to preserve the works of Your mercy, that Your Church, being spread through the whole world, may continue with unchanging faith in the confession of Your name. Amen. Prayer for America Father, we beg Your blessings on the Right to Life, the Unborn, the weak, the sick, the old, the poor, and on all who are finding themselves becoming targets of the vicious culture of death; that our Lord Jesus bless and protect all who stand up for the Christian dignity of persons. That God enlighten those who are traveling down death's highway by their involvement, in any way, with either the contemporary death culture, selfism, relativism, secularism, or any of the New Age errors of our times, that God envelop our culture with His Divine protection and help us both individually and as a nation to true enlightenment, conversion and repentance of our selves and of our culture. Help us to turn from our national sin of abortion, (other prayers may be inserted here) that we may once again become a nation, a people, a culture, on the narrow road, that is, under God. Amen. MichaelFilo
If anyone is still interested, the ammendment wasn't passed. Gay marriage can be legalized in whatever state wants to legalize it.. ::sigh::
ClaireBear
I think this is only the beginning of an extremely long fight... But I know, I was totally bummed when I heard it didn't pass on the radio. What's so interesting is that gay marriage really and truly is not the will of the people... The majority (this was on Rush... over 60%) are NOT for gay marriage, this is the work of activist judges ignoring the law. St. Michael, pray for our country! ilovechrist
i hope that it is continued to be pushed... it needs ot be passed. there is a large majority (according to an online poll, it read that 78%) that is against gay marriage.... *off to pray the Rosary*
I agree Without a constitutional ammendment there's little to prevent activist judges from striking down legislation preserving the composition of civil marriages. Marriage is not something the state can legitimitely redefine. O well, when January comes we'll have a different legislature more progress may be made there. MichaelFilo
Those darned judges. You know, the legislative branch of the US has gotten more and more power since the beggining of this country's history. No problem however, the Catholic Church will never let down it's position, and that is all the assurance I need! God bless, Michael
MorphRC
Then you have to think about all the broken homes that gay marriages tend to lead to.
Yeah and hetero marriages have been better
The fact that a gay male sleeps with 300 guys in a life time should worry anybody. Sleeping around never made for solid famalies.
I agree with this, but heteros do it way more on a massive more scale. Remember gays only make up 10-12% of the total population of the world. So thats a bit of a low blow.
