Jake Huether
My sis in law, a while back, registered demo. But she's considering voting Rep. If you change your mind, how does that work?? I'm a dummy, so don't laugh at this question. Hahaha.
Thy Geekdom Come
She can vote Republican, she just can't vote in the Republican primary, whereas a Republican could, but only a Dem can vote in the Democratic Primary.
PaxVobis
but there are some states.. I can't remember which.. I believe Georgia is one.. You can vote in either primary no matter your party. Peace, Tony
Jake Huether
Hey thanks a buch Raph. So, how would she vote in the Primary?? Is there a way to change here registry now?? Or should she just not vote in the Primary, and then do it in the final?? Edit: Oh, haha... Did we already have the primary?? What good do the primaries do?? Do they even count? Or is it just a sneek peak at what it will look like? Edited July 11, 2004 by Jake Huether
Jake Huether
Note: I'm not very politically / government / etc. inclined. I know I should be... But I do know the important stuff (at least I try too). So, in other words.... Don't laugh at my stupid questions. Hahaha.

homeschoolmom
Primaries put the candidates on the ballot in Nov. Minnesota is a caucus state, but it pretty much comes down the same (although caucuses allow for more grassroots support)... anyway, I am pretty sure that all of the primaries are over... and have been since about March... Carrie
I'm not 100% sure because I'm also not politically inclined, but this is what I think is right. The primary is to determine which candidate from a party will actually be the one to run for office. The Democrats had a primary to determine whether it would be Kerry, Edwards, etc. to be the one to run for president. Kerry won the primary, so he is the Democractic presidential candidate. The Republicans didn't have a primary because Bush is going to be running again. So if your sis is registered Dem, then she can vote in the Dem primary but not a Republican primary. But she can vote for whomever she wants in November, no matter what party. Political buffs, does this sound right?

homeschoolmom
The dems haven't yet had their national convention... it all becomes "official" then... but it's pretty much a done deal now... a technicality...
Iacobus
Primarys are normaly in the spring only. So I would say it is too late for her to change and vote in that. However she can vote however she wants come Nov.
