Madonna
I go to Franciscan University of Steubenville, and all the professors in the Theology Department take the Oath of Fidelity. I was at the Mass last year where the newest professors took the Oath, and it was very beautiful.
Steubenville was my dream school for two years. A few things happened that really turned me off. I went on an anit-Steubenville kick. I know that must sound silly because I know so many people that worship Steubenville. My bitterness is wearing off, though, and I have grown up some. I am considering it for a possible place to go for grad school. I doubt I'll find sound theology at the university I currently attend. kateri05
ave maria is also excellent! they require the oath and have 2 campuses: michigan and flordia. however, none of these schools offer doctorates in theology (a friend of mine is looking into that and is frustrated by the lack of orthodox doctorate programs, or rather, there apparent nonexistence)
Apotheoun
Steubenville was my dream school for two years.
Every school has problems, and Steubenville is no exception, but it is orthodox in its presentation of Catholic theology. Certainly, there is room for improvement, because sometimes things are not covered in any great depth, but then, this is a problem at all schools, since time is limited. I suppose they could make a Bachelors degree take 8 years and a Masters degree could take 5 years, and you'd get much more depth if they did that, but it's also not a very realistic solution to the problem. One of the things that is really required of any student is self-study, i.e., pushing oneself to go beyond what is required, but that kind of motivation cannot be taught. Theoketos
If you want an authenticly Catholic Campus, which I must still say has alot of soil to till, go to Benedictine College. Although some crazies associate themselves with the Benedictine name, that is true of every campus.

God bless, Todd
oh, I completely agree. That is why I am disappointed in myself for not keeping up. All my notions about Steubenville are gone now. I am not as excited about the university as I once was, but all my bitterness is in the past. I am still considering it for a graduate degree. I am also really interested in Ave Maria University in Florida. The man that founded Dominos is practically giving his whole fortune over to the university. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at now though. We have a strong Catholic community on campus.
Socrates
While, like every place, Christendom is not perfect, in terms of giving authentic orthdodox Catholic teaching, it cannot be beat. (I'm a CC alumnus). It is the only school in America where all of the faculty (of all departments) take a yearly Oath of Fidelity. There is also a strong Catholic moral atmosphere (not that nobody's a sinner or anything!) and Catholic culture on campus life, as well as strong academics. While it's probably not for everybody, it is founded as a genuinely Catholic alternative to the Catholic-in-name-only universities.

M.SIGGA
surprisingly I just found out today from a friend of mine at Georgetown that they don't allow the distribution of condoms on their campus, so there's hope yet?

Spiritual_Arsonist
In general, things like this should have been foreseen. Paul VI said himself that the smoke of satan entered the church. The time for talking about issues only needs to stop, and a new evangelization is needed. We can dialogue all we want, but nothing will change. By LIVING the truth we profess, we will change this dismal scene. Getting the WORD out will help also. The love of Christ has been substituted, it has not been allowed to develop into these poor souls.
