Mass intentions

Ash Wednesday

I would think that would be ok. I think the Prayers of the Faithful are often along those lines during Sunday mass, especially prayers for the sick and the dying that involve multiple people in a parish or town.

Maybe.

A priest may accept only one Mass stipend per day (with the exception being Christmas).  Generally, a person may ask for a couple intentions to be listed (although I don't think most priests like that because of the unclarity surrounding it), and one rare occasions, two people can decide to share a Mass intention stipend with two intentions (I'm not sure on all the details there).

Some churches will list lots of 'intentions' (ie things that are being prayed for) but they do not necessarily correspond with the sole stipended intention. So without far more details, its incredibly hard to say. I would say Christian charity tends towards believing that it is all shipshape (unless the priest starts saying he's taking multiple daily stipends -or worse, not saying the Masses he's accepted stipends for).

The precept of Canon 948 is to be maintained always: “Separate masses are to be applied for the intentions for which an individual offering has been made and accepted.”

In accord with decree of the Congregation for the Clergy of 1991 a priest cannot gather together several different intentions for which an individual offering has been made and satisfy them with a single Mass.

However you can group together and pray particularly for the repose of the souls of those intentions at weekend Masses for example so that the parish knows and can pray for them as a community. However the priest(s) still have the obligation to offer a single Mass for each offering received.

Inmy parish for example in the Prayers of Intercession the last prayer is

That all those we remember in  November  will be healed of all sin as they experience the shining rays of the Son of Righteousness. We also remember . . .  May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace, we pray to the Lord.

In the space we remember ....the names of those deceased are mentioned, but a separate Mass must be offered (usually during the week)
