PadrePio
I have a hard time admitting that Blessed Chiara Luce Badano is indeed "blessed". In some of her photos you will find her dressed a little immodestly (in comparison to the standards that you expect from a future saint") Have any one else felt the same PS: My first post

benedictaaugustine
Couldn’t find anything where she’s dressed immodestly at all
MIKolbe
i found a pic of her wearing pantaloons if that's what you mean...
KnightofChrist
If you mean the photos of her in a semi low cut tank top I can see your point of view. Yet, not sure I share it but nor am I against it. That is I don't believe it should be a strike against her canonisation, but I'd find more complimentary photos of her to promote her canonisation. Do be warned though, modesty discussions here, in the past at least, often end in heated arguments. Good luck and welcome!

Lea
Just a small reminder that being blessed or even saintly certainly is not a point of being perfect in all areas of life.

Look. If we start requiring that all of our saints be perfect people it's gonna be a little bit difficult to find somebody to canonize.
benedictaaugustine
Agree with peace. I do not think a tank top is immodest in most western cultures (as it would be immodest in say Saudi Arabia), but putting aside that… would you be scandalized that St. Mary of Egypt was a profligate prostitute? That St. Augustine lived a life of debauchery? That many other Saints struggled with addictions and sins up until the point of death? The point of sainthood is not that people were perfect during their life, but that they loved and followed the Lord to admirable extents and grew in holiness. Hna.Caridad
Blessed Chiara Luce did not sin by wearing a tank top. Women's bodies are not sinful. How about this: maybe the photographer sinned by taking her picture (though that's even questionable) and the viewer definitely sins when he chooses to look at her with accusation or lust. A woman (who is made in God's image and likeness--see Genesis 1:27) is not to blame for how a man chooses to view her. Men aren't helpless animals--they are responsible for their own thoughts and actions.
GraceUk
I've never heard such nonsense. She was a beautiful young girl who looked radiant t in the photos I've seen. Nothing immodest whatsoever. Ridiculous!

Look, if Peace takes off all his clothes and walks down the street women are gonna swoon and have sinful thoughts. I know this. You know this. That being the case, I think I would bear some (although not the primary) responsibility by putting said women in a position where they are tempted to sin. I am simply that irresistible. That being said, I have not seen this tank-top photo. Nor do I have any desire to. But I don't think that a tank-top or a swimsuit by itself is crossing the line. I don't think the Lord requires that every woman jump in the pool wearing a pair of jeans and a baggy sweatshirt just because the pool-boy may be a horndog. So I'd say you are right in this particular instance, but the general principle you drew goes a bit too far.
