said another way,... given that the devil cannot destroy the world directly,... is the devil sowing mistrust of scientific warnings of man made climate change because he wants mankind to destroy creation???

Which makes it hard for some to trust our leaders. That would at least reduce culpability or guilt of those that are critical of climate change.

...to understand why scientists are concerned about manmade climate change one needs to have a fundamental understanding of what is actually happening

annual variations in earth's orbit cause changes in the seasons,... for example summer happens in the northern hemisphere because the earth is tilted toward the sun AND winter happens in the northern hemisphere because the earth is tilted away from the sun 

long term variations (tens to hundred of thousands of years) in Earth's orbit cause changes in the climate,... for example an ice age

if we removed the human impacts of greenhouse gas emissions, earth would be in a minor cooling phase,... this is because of long term variations (tens to hundred of thousands of years) in Earth's orbit

IOW just as fall is in-between a hot summer AND a cold winter,... looking at the long term orbital cycle, we should be slowly having a "fall" climate

BUT because humanity (since the start of the industrial revolution) has released many thousands of gigatons of CO2 into the atmosphere (and because CO2 traps heat),... the average temperature changed since the industrial revolution has risen by more than 1 degree C (2.07 degrees F)

FYI because of the "yuge" amounts of fossil fuels burned every day (the world uses about 100 million barrels per day AND a single barrel of crude oil is equivalent to 42 gallons) science measures CO2 released in gigatons,... where a gigaton is the weight of a cubic kilometer of water

basically if one starts by looking at the chemical combustion process of all the various hydrocarbon fuels such as coal, methane, gasoline, diesel, etc. 

 

the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere by humanity (since the start of the industrial revolution) is pretty dramatic,... basically CO2 in the atmosphere has risen about 50% percent

 

 

and here is something scientist find troubling,... even if humanity by some miracle stopped burning all fossil fuels today, CO2 (which is a very stable molecule) would remain in the atmosphere hundreds of years, or more,... and because CO2 traps heat, earth's average temperature would continue to rise for hundreds of years, or more

BTW if you think a 1 degree C (2.07 degrees F) rise in average temperature isn't a big deal,... consider the human body which is something around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (or 37 degrees Celsius),... right now the planet has something akin to a low grade fever

science tells us,... the arctic region since the time of Jesus, has been frozen solid

yet looking at the science news/journals we see a warming trend AND now there is rain falling in the arctic region

point being if trends continue and the Greenland ice cap melts,... science indicates there will be a global flood sorta like as described in story of Noah

in science there are facts which can be shown to be true,... the problem is some (most likely the majority) don't have the balls to directly face up to the truth

looking at the issue from a catholic tradition, consider the parable of the talents,... or said another way consider the "talentless" in terms of grasping science and theology

its been many, many years since I was in a high school religion class, but from what I recall the parable of the vineyard owner,... is a theological way to view the topic of “climate change”

...a landowner set forth a vineyard with great care and lavish attention

he then entrusted it to tenant farmers 

at harvest time, he sought his share of the produce 

yet instead of giving the owner what was due him, the tenant farmers refused, ridiculing, beating, and even killing the servants sent to collect his share 

they end by killing the owner’s own son

when jesus asks his audience what they thought the owner would do in response, they replied that he would put the men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who would give him the produce at the proper time

obviously, they did not realize that in the parable the landlord was actually describing them,... and that such a judgment would be upon them unless they repented

Are you saying that people who don't have talent shouldn't even try?  That's not the purpose of that passage.  But more than that, the exact people you are describing are not those who are ignorant, but those who believe in science so firmly that they let God fall to the wayside.
