Fiat_Voluntas_Tua
JMJ IHM This past wednesday at The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass something struck me. While kneeling on the floor waiting for Holy Communion, the Holy Spirit put a thought in my head. It was this: Why do we take The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for granted? Why doesn't the Eucharist change our lives immediatly? To some it does. To these Holy men and women The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was bigger than their worldly life. The Eucharist, the exact same as the one we are "obligated" to receive every Sunday, was their life. Their life was for the Eucharist, their life was through the Eucharist, their life was in the Eucharist. These Holy men and women suffered torture, starvation, beatings, mutalations for the sake of Holy Communion. These Holy men and women died by burnings, hangings, drownings, shootings, stabbings, decapitations and much more so we may receive Holy Communion. Why then, when we receive Holy Communion, do we not find that same desire to give our lives for the Church if called to? Any Catholic should be willing to give his or her life for just a single Host. Because It is not just a single Host, It is what we live for. And since it is what we live for, it to should be what we die for. It is what every marytr lived for and died for. When we receive The Most Holy Communion the blood of every marytr and saint flows through our veins. It is the Eucharist and their devotion to it that makes men and women Saints. So, there is no reason why we too can't find the desire or the fire to devote our lives to The Holy Mother Church as Her Saints did. By the Grace of God, we are the saints of tommorow. If we knew what the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was really about we would die of Joy. Pax et Agape per Mariam, Andy Jaeger
blovedwolfofgod
Sometimes we take for granted stuff we dont have to fight for. Holy Communion can almost become commonplace and unimportant for people. Pride gets in our way. The Holy Sacrifice, if one is not properly disposed to it, can become more of a burden than a blessing. Let us all pray that we will have the courage to die for our Lord. Amen. Especially how people take it as an "obligation", like going to the dentist, some burden to be tolerated. That made just feel indiscribably sad. Here is Our LORD and our GOD, who died for us, right there IN FRONT OF US on the altar. Physically present. Yet some people go, just don't take it all in, go through it automatically. I usually end up offering up this Communion for that intention, for those people. Only God can make them realize just how valuable it is.
Soldier4Him
Do you realize that every single mass, we receive the same exact body that was up on the cross at calvary? The same EXACT body that Mary held as a child. The Eucharist does get taken for granted, and it's a tradgedy. One odd night after adoration a friend I had brought along who is Catholic but not practicing was telling me how her mind wandered while we sat in his presence and somehow got on, what would happen if people stormed the church in terrosim (or something along those lines) right now? Would you protect me? And I said to her, I'm sorry Jen, but I would defend what is in that chapel before I would defend you. We shouldn't have to think twice.
