WOKE

There is a difference between simply decency (politeness) and 'woke'.

Decency, politeness should be part of everyone's day to day.

'Woke' these days make up an imagined reality and try to impose on everyone this reality.  The 'woke' today demand endorsement of their opinions and self-image (real or not), and failure to take part & accept in their imagined 'realities' results in being demonized, cancelled or worse.

woke up, people.  Woke up…

teaching kids about gender sexuality starting in kindergarten is from what I gather going to be rebranded as part of the broader idea of 'social justice' (to keep the woke ideology infection going)

Climate change is expected to affect every facet of our lives, and students are hungry to learn more about it. Many experts say the topic goes beyond science class and should be woven through subjects and grade levels.

Yet more than three-quarters of teachers have never received any professional training or education on climate change or how to teach it, according to a nationally representative survey of teachers, conducted by the EdWeek Research Center in December.

San Francisco State University is hoping to change that. The university announced this fall that it is creating a Climate Justice Education Certificate for pre-K-12 teaching—part of a broader initiative to tackle the climate crisis in an equity-minded way.

Aunt Jemima is now Pearl Milling Company, just had a stack of pancakes for breakfast with butter, maple syrup and whipped cream on top.

A great woman erased from history

The branding of the syrup was a tribute to this woman’s gifts and talents. Now future generations will not even know this beautiful woman existed. What a shame. The world knew her as “Aunt Jemima”, but her given name was Nancy Green and she was a true American success story. She was born a slave in 1834 Montgomery County, KY. and became a wealthy superstar in the advertising world, as its first living trademark. Green was 56-yrs old when she was selected as spokesperson for a new ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour and made her debut in 1893 at a fair and exposition in Chicago. She demonstrated the pancake mix and served thousands of pancakes, and became an immediate star. She was a good storyteller, her personality was warm and appealing, and her showmanship was exceptional. Her exhibition booth drew so many people that special security personnel were assigned to keep the crowds moving. Nancy Green was signed to a lifetime contract, traveled on promotional tours all over the country, and was extremely well paid. Her financial freedom and stature as a national spokesperson enabled her to become a leading advocate against poverty and in favor of equal rights for all Americans. She maintained her job until her death in 1923, at age 89. This was a remarkable woman, and sadly she has been ERASED by Woke politics.

One compromise that I could get behind is changing the name of "Pearl Milling Company pancakes" (Aunt Jemima Pancakes) to Nancy Green’s Pancakes.

I can respect that - you are trying to elevate someone with a purpose.

Not just trying to remove something for the sake of removing it.

That second strip is too close to reality to be funny.

School boards objected to and silenced parents reading from children books pulled from the school's library during meetings for the very reason that the content was deemed 'inappropriate'...

Make no mistake, the LGBTQ+ are coming for the children.

IMG-6022.jpgIf the nation was like it was when I was in public school so many years ago, we would be in the middle of Easter break. That’s right — Easter break. Not spring break.

How is it that the mere mention of celebrating a religious holiday, especially the Christian religion, in the public arena is considered at the very least in poor taste and infringing on the rights of others in a negative derogatory way.

For example, Spring break or Winter break used to be known as Easter break.

There was a time, unknown by my children or grandchildren, when the secular state recognized that the observance of religion was a positive force. Thus, because the Church observed Holy Week, especially in areas that were heavily Catholic or Episcopalian, and because Good Friday was a sacred holiday,

And, again back in the day, the school choruses did not produce a “Winter Concert,” but, rather, a Christmas Concert. Why? Because it was the period leading up to Christmas.

That all changed slowly but surely when some people felt that the way the Constitution had been interpreted for nearly two hundred years was all wrong. Religion, especially the Christian religion, was not to be celebrated in the public arena.

Somehow now or today, if you oppose drag queen shows in public school for kindergartens, you’re a bigot or homophobic or a hater.

ITs always been true, for decades, anyone who opposes the pro-homo agenda is labelled bigot or worse.  They are basically using peer-pressure on a mass scale to advance some very dubious doctrines.

One is sound tradition that upkept civilization for centuries, the other has nowhere any similar empirical support.

How do you think non-Christian students reacted or react to the observance of Christian holidays in public, secular schools? As of 2021, for instance, more than 1/3 of the US population is not Christian.

Where is the harm in that?

Are you saying that kindergarten drag shows, paganism and instructing minors about sex change mutilation are a appropriate replacement of Christian values once upon a time prevalent in our society?

The harm is that our government/nation is not "Christian," and the First Amendment prohibits the establishment of religion. Please give me any examples of "instructing minors about sex change mutilation" or "kindergarten drag shows"? If these are happening (which I doubt), establishment of religion is not the answer, apart from being unconstitutional. If you want "Christian values" to be promoted in your children's schools, then send them to Christian schools. But non-Christian--as well as Constitution-respecting Christian--tax dollars should not support such proselytizing.

To put it another way, how would you feel if you or your children were required to listen to Islamic or Buddhist teaching as a matter of course in their public schools?
