oh i love those verses Ironmonk!!

i too want the catholic dozen!!!

my role model is Anna  who has her catholic dozen  :hearts:
Anna is a great example for all wives and mothers.

She's the bomb. From what I can tell, she's the ideal Catholic wife and mother.

but that is just one man's opinion.

God Bless!

I was just being silly about the college thing. Hence why I put the silly smilies.

Didn't mean to imply that Ironmonk shouldn't have 12 if that's what you thought. I also know that God will provide.
I'm healthy, but I'm a few pounds over because of an injury, but once healed I'll be back looking like:

Monk, your baby is very cute ... but I'm wondering whether you think the picture of you is really all that ... modest. I only ask because I know you've expressed strong feelings on modest dress in the past, so it's a little strange to see you post a pic of yourself in a Speedo, which is perhaps one of the most revealing pieces of clothing a man can wear.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of the "Catholic dozen," although there were several families in my Catholic grade school that had 11, 12, or 13. So that families that had five or six children were only medium-sized families. My mother was pg 13 times, but only got to raise five to adulthood. There is my paradigm of faithfulness to God--burying six children (plus two miscarriages) and still trusting God with her childbearing. (of course, Daddy was in there somewhere, too!)

When my hubby and I were dating, I wanted 12 and he wanted 8, so we planned 10. Ended up with eight, unless the Lord does one of those mid-life things. Of course, the comment I receive most is "Oh, you must be Catholic."

The Bible says nothing about children being a burden, financial or otherwise. Having raised six of ours into their 20's, and still two at home, I can testify that God does provide. We have never gone without a meal, even if it was pb&j.

My favorite Bible passage about children:

Psalm 127

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Since I had my first child at 32, I doubt I have time to get in 12 - but, I'll definitely take what the Lord decides I should have!

Olivia is adorable! You got any more recent pics? :)

The image of shooting your quiver full of arrows out into the world has always been powerful to me. You raise 'em up and send them off...

I always wanted to have a big family. Whether God chooses to bless me in that way or not remains to be seen :) but I love kids, and wouldn't mind a Catholic dozen.
