Where does "semi-contemplative" communities comes from ?

Oh, Nunsuch, I wasn't correcting you - I'm sorry if it appeared like that.

In the main, I think a lot of these terms are used about us, but not by us! And sometimes, it can just be an impression people get, and then they fix a label on to it. I remember years ago, someone telling me quite definitely that a congregation was semi-enclosed. It transpired that she knew one of their communities. The sisters ran a retreat centre which had its own chapel (and Mass was often said there, so they only went to the parish maybe once or twice a week) and as she rarely bumped into them in the street, she had decided that obviously, they had to be enclosed. Whereas if she had met their community in another city - involved in a community centre, active in the parish - she'd have formed a very different opinion.

@Nunsuch - I meant to tag you in my previous post, to make sure you'd see it (and it wouldn't let me edit it once submitted)

I understand, and appreciate both your experience and your wisdom!
