Butterfly
Dear phorum, I watched this video about a clothing ceremony in an orthodox female community: https://gloria.tv/post/1W6ySAPVuY9S3oemoK6KDpDgo Could somebody tell me more about the meaning of these practices? Anastasia
You question is rather vague. Which practices exactly? A future nun crawls on the floor towards the altar, as a sign of repentance. Then she prostrates herself in a shape of a cross. She gives to the Abbot the scissors which he throws down three times, asking her again and again if she truly wants to be come a nun. Then he cuts her hair in a shape of a cross but not much, just a few locks. Etc. If you put in a search engine "clothing ceremony of a nun, eastern orthodox church" you will see the videos in English popping up, like this one so you can hear the words in English (this is clothing a Sister that is in the Orthodoxy the first stage of being a nun) If you have concrete questions please ask.
