Lifeteen ... Breaking News

Hi my name is Ryan I am jjtuffs friend. I understand where you guys are coming from and the church is our authority and we MUST listen to her. But what i don't understand is why you look at it like this. " Personally, I'm glad that these abuses have been dealt with". I am a teen and I think this is way out of line. I play in the band at my life teen mass and seeing the teens up there holding hands during the our father and bowing when they are supposed to. I do not look at this as a distraction, but I get more of an uplifting feeling from it. Seeing all the teens up there way more into it then most of the church, it is the least bit distracting. I think it is great to have the next generation being so active in the mass. If you look hard, the expressions on there faces are amazing. SO before you classify this as an ABUSE look at other perspectives first besides your own.

PS, I have it on good authority that when we die our Guardian Angel gets to chill with us forever in heaven, but if we go to hell he is so disappointed and pained, he chills up in heaven forever but doesn't get a buddy to chill with.

<in lamence terms>

okay, I'm serious now, back to the topic of lifeteen.

even thought its a Lifeteen Mass... its not just about the teens. There is a whole congregation that is being left out of the Consecration and by being there they are putting us as co-celebrants arent they? i dont think its right and i just see it as soo distracting to be up there because those of us who are trying to be respectful and its just distracting to have people standing there immodestly.

My biggest concern of the altar gather is how people dress because as the bread and wine is turning in the Jesus there are people wearing super short skirts (i dont care who its just tehre) and its very distracting because we are guys iwth hormones and it leads people to lusting and sinning

thats my biggest concern of the altar gather

peace

well, while i don't deny that it can bring people closer, i also have seen much deeper impacts on people through the mass when they remain in their pews and kneel for the consecration, even so much as tears. when they're up there on the altar, at least in my parish, half of them are not reverent, the other half get hyped up and everything. At least at my parish, the Our Father isn't that great of an example, cuz they only enjoy it because they hold hands and bounce their hands up and down to the beet bouncin their head and basically almost just up there on the Altar with the sacred host just feet away and they're havin a grand ol' time dancin. but I'm not sure how deep it goes, cause when they get over to lifeteen (or sometimes when they get back to their pews! blech!) they just go right back to their average gossipy teenage lifestyle. The people that I've seen really dig deep into their faith actually now remain back when everyone goes up to the Altar (and they get chastized for doing such )

I'm not denying it can be helpful to some.

However, I wish I had never been allowed on that Altar. I wish I could take back all the immature jokes I wispered to my friends, all the off-beat clapping I did and then giggled at how clever and funny I was. I wish I would have just been falling to my knees in the presence of my Lord instead of showin Him so much disrespect. If it even brings one person into the Sacred Area of the consecration without reverence then it has done damage.

I donno, I just happen to agree with this decision and think that no matter what these teens think makes the mass better, the mass will do them more good if they can learn the reverence.

Did you say they're going to Hell?

My mom does this to me too often. :) I learned how to counter it finally.

1. It's not judging them. (Maybe being critical)
2. You're judging their action...Love the sinner, hate the sin. :)

no, we have the right and the Christian duty bound by Christ's Law of Charity to inform people when they are dressing in an inappropriate manner. One of the the 7 spiritual works of mercy is to admonish the sinner. judge not lest ye be judged means we don't know their culpability for sins, we can't judge that they're goin to hell or heaven. it does not mean we cannot tell someone when they are committing something that is objectively sinful. And he who causes his brother to sin is guilty of sin himself. Immodesty in dress is a crime against all around you who are striving to be pure. That judge not thing is stretched waaay too much nowadays by the people who think we should just butt out and let everyone run rampant doing whatever they want.

sorry for the hostility everyone, ya its been one of those nights, where u come home and 50 things just go wrong. so sorry for all those hostile replies. back to the subject

philippe, i understand that the clothing that girls are wearing is an isue to u, but.....do u really think that if jesus was watching our mass, he would be more disgusted with the clothes? or do u think he would smile and be happy to see so many teens up at the alter, and yes. I do think that it has somewhat lost its purpose, and ppl go up there more for a social gathering than an alter gathering. but i dont think that those should be reasons to take it away

sorry again for all the hostility :-)

peace be with yall

i think Jesus would be upset that the people who are dressing immodestly are leading the ones with a smile on there face trying to get the full experience into sin. If people were wearing slacks adn a collared shirt and the girls were wearing long dresses and a blouse then i think it would be fine

It's the highest minor order for men, and they're ordained. :) Basically a glorified Altar server who takes precedense in things such as serving and EMHCs. :)
