xxjjtuffxx
i dont like that, i really thought that the alter gather was an awsome experience, i think that its really lame that theyre gonna take it away, but at my mass we say "thanks be to God" so thats ok, but i really enjoyed seeing all the teens up at the altar gather, it was kool
traichuoi
i need a link! i want to show my lifeteen director! im not a fan of the altar gather because it turns into a party and girls dress immodestly and it leads you to sin while bread and wine is being transubstantiated into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity or Jesus Christ our Savior very frusterating... i had an argument with my mom over it
there is no link...Fr. Dale will be spreading the news soon...
Aloysius
with all do respect, whether or not you think it's lame doesn't mean anything at all. the fact is that the priest should be the only one on the Altar for the consecration and everyone else should be humbly down off of the altar preferably kneeling. the majority of faithful Catholics out there do not like seeing the teens up there, but rather find it distracting (at least from nearly every real faithful Catholic i've ever spoken to)
Aloysius
by the way: WELCOME TO PHATMASS! I'm dumb and didn't happen to notice you're still a lurker... don't take any of that too harshly or nothing. Sometimes the style of discussion turns people off because people tend to like to call what they see as a spade a spade, you know be strait forward and all. don't let me scare you away. I just really dislike teens on the altar, and not only that: i really like everyone being down off of the altar kneeling in unison worshipping the Lord. The teens IMHO shouldn't be seperated off and cluttered around the altar. Peace and Love of Christ be with you ~Aloysius

BeenaBobba
Personally, I'm glad that these abuses have been dealt with. I've always liked LifeTeen, but it's always been on a conditional basis. I'd always be like, "I like LifeTeen, but I can't stand the liturgical abuse." I'm happy that the liturgical abuse will no longer be allowed. I, personally, thought they took away from LifeTeen as an organization. LifeTeen's pretty cool in that it gets teens excited about Catholicism, and it'll be even cooler now. God bless, Jen

I believe the biggest deal is that the teens are separated from the community which makes it wrong. Also, in most churches, it causes the teens to not be able to kneel while the rest of the congregation kneels. but yes, we can't just do or not do something according to lameness but you don't just do something just because the majority of faithful Catholics like it either...that's not a reason. Aloysius
I'm a teen. I mentioned lurker cuz i suddenly became aware that my post was kind of confrontational and strait-forward, some people get turned off by that if they're just coming into PhatMass. I didn't mean to condescend, I'm sorry if it came off that way. Anyway, feelings are not the determination of spiritual reality. The Church said groups are not exempt from the Liturgical Norms, that includes lifeteen. The Church in her infinite wisdom has decided that it best serves the teens to be humbled on their knees back with the rest of the Church. I also don't like the label "Lifeteen Mass" as I don't like the label "Charistmatic Mass" or any other such label, it is the Eternal Sacrifice of the Mass even if there were to be no music and a stuttering priest, it'd still be the same spiritual reality. Overemphasis on the superficial portions of it are distracting to the Eternal Truth of it. Anyway, It's not about the emotions, you don't go to Mass to feel good and get entertained. You go to mass to receive the Bread of Life to sustain your soul. Pax Amorque Christi

Aloysius
lol thankya :tiphat: well, I donno which one you're talkin bout Altar Call? I haven't yet got on the Catholic-Church.org server that other one was just a random personal site If you're talkin bout Altar Call, what I need right now is some way to materialize the program so it can be given to a Parish Priest and they can implement the program right away. Tough task, I'm gonna need some help. now back to Lifeteen. Pax et Agape per Maria
