HollyDolly
Hi everyone.I was looking for some of the communities in the book, A guide to Catholic Sisterhoods in the United States by Rev.Thomas P.McCarthy. You can view it online at Internet Archive.org Anyhow, the good news is the sisters are still around. The french Dominican Sisters of Bethany have a website:dominicainesdebethanie.org They still do their original ministry and still wear a habit. Both the French and Dutch sisters were mentioned in this book and Convent Life by Joan Lexau Dial Press 1964.There was an article on them on www.globalsistersreport.org, dated Nov.4, 2019. They are in the Netherlands, Germany, and Latvia. According to the global sisters report, the sisters in Holland were formed when some german members of the order fled France for safety during WW1 and settled in Venlo. They also wear the habit and do their apostolate of working with women.
