Well if you'd like some non-Internet analysis I highly recommend the work of American sociologist Salvatore Babones who teaches in Australia. He has written on the concept of an "integrated world society" which is no longer built around traditional state-to-state relations. It still revolves around America, but not necessarily around the American state. Trumpism has to be seen in this light, the attempt to dethrone the established state and rule through civil society, what's referred to in political science as government at a distance. It's telling that the white supremacists who form Trump's base are trying to recover the state apparatus, even as the world moves away from this sort of centralized governance. It's because, as I said, white supremacists can't compete in civil society. In their view, civil society is ruled by "captured" institutions such as the news media or entertainment industry (represented by NY and LA, respectively). They see the state government as their only hope, yet even there they can barely compete, hence the fantasy of exposing the "deep state" conspirators and reclaiming what rightfully belongs to white people, the US government. This fantasy reached its apex with the election of a black president. Nothing represents the loss of white power in America like the ascendancy of formerly racial minorities to national power. White people in America can feel the barbarian hordes at the gate, and only Trump could build the wall to keep them out, while draining the swamp and building a new foundation where the good white people of West Virginia and Alabama can be competitive. White people are clinging to traditional state structures partly because they can't compete in the integrated world society which is no longer defined by race or national borders. Anyway check out Babones's work, he is not unsympathetic to Trump supporters.

Also, just wanted to add to this the importance of social media to Trumpism, because social media is sort of the capital of the new transnational civil society. It's a decentralized, unregulated civil society where the common man has a voice. Trump is no dummy and he used social media to full effect as his direct channel to the masses. The banning of Trump from Twitter is a MAJOR development on many levels and represents the necessity of dealing with this new global system where civil society and state structures are existing side by side.

Trump's final day in office, handing out pardons like party favors from Oprah. Everyone gets a pardon except the rednecks who actually gave him political power and believed his propaganda about a stolen election.

Steve Bannon? Pardon. Lil Weezy? Pardon. Kodak Black? Pardon.

Lie to the FBI (General Flynn)? Pardon.

QAnon Shaman guy? Ummm... good luck buddy. Trump doesn't treat his baby mamas this badly, or his porn stars even.

Before the riot Trump and his obese penguin sidekick Giuliani were cheerleading the revolution. Within 24 hours Trump had publicly denounced it. No pardons like they asked for. Apparently even Trump isn't corrupt enough to cross the Justice Department which is hell bent on making an example of these people, or at least putting on a show of doing so.

Trump, the poor man's Putin who can't even pardon his True Believers, though of course he "loves" them because they're "special." I imagine we'll see a Destalinization of the GOP after this.

Trump is the consummate entrepreneur who saw an opportunity to build a political power base from white supremacists and angry rednecks. He got what he wanted, wham bam thank you ma'am. A greasy pimp, I'll say it again, that's all Trump is and ever was, and Christians in America committed fornication with the whore of Babylon.

Now he's gone because he's a Loser.
