Anomaly
I just read a news article that Massachusetts state Democrats overturned the Governor”s veto to permit 16 year olds to get abortions without a parent’s consent. This is what happens when a political party is strong in the local level. Abortion is not decided strictly in the Supreme Court. Local laws reinforce or undermine easy access to abortion as part of everyday life.

Local laws reinforce or undermine easy access to abortion as part of everyday life. This is a great reminder about local politics. These are the people who have the most influence on the daily lives of the citizenry. School boards, city councils, county officials, state representatives, etc. Traditionally the turn out for this level of elections is pathetically low in the absence of a presidential election. If citizens are looking to make a difference this is the place to start and affect meaningful policy influence. Party affiliation is not the determinative factor; policy is. Anomaly
Then again, look at how much “Catholic Democrat” Biden has done to promote abortion, both here in the US as well as in other countries with executive orders. Not to mention how they plan to weaken resistance to abortion, permanently, as President. But it at least they are more polite. It’s a better world. chrysostom
Unfortunately when states try to do things like require local hospital admitting privileges for abortionists Roberts stands ready to strike those laws down. But I agree in any case about local politics. https://apnews.com/article/c9c6eee97277d6e8e71f568cde830e46 Edited January 30, 2021 by chrysostom
