jasJis
I was born in 1960. I was an altar boy when prayers were in Latin, and held the paten during communion. I remember getting wacked by mean nuns (very few) and knowing cool and nice nuns (most). I remember when mechanical pencils were and oddity, nobody really had color TV unless you were rich, we'd put popped popcorn on top of the TV because the tubes kept it warm. A calcualator in the 70's cost $100++++. My first computer class in college explained how to program a computer with punch cards, though it was going out at that time. The drinking age was 18, and the University sold beer on campus.
Pope St Clement 1
Lol..not necessarily . I just felt like being random. Cuz people think Im 20....ish.
People used to think that about me when I was in my mid teens. Then when I got to mid to late 20's they thought I was younger. For me, I had it good both ways. Is it a mature look that you have, do you think?
Pope St Clement 1
jas Jis, I remember those punch cards. Did a basic computer course using them at high school. You know what, we didn't have a computer - we actually had to send the cards away and get the results back in a week or so - true ! I remember when colour TV first came to Australia - they were giving them away as an ultra-special prizes on radio. Hadn't heard of people putting popped popcorn on top of the TV. Must remember that one when kids ask me "Tell me about the olden days" (I look after children and I've already began to hear that - ). As for calculators, one boy in our year 10 class had one and that was a bit of a novelty. (Had to have them in year 11, though, for doing co-sines and sines). Ash Wednesday
I don't know, I'm seeing a couple of suspiciously young posts trying to wiggle their way into the oldsters' clubhouse. If you aren't old enough to remember "nanoo nanoo" or "hey you guyyyyyyyyyyyyys!!!" BEFORE Chunk in the Goonies, get out of the thread.

Kilroy the Ninja
I remember Ford as President. I remember watching the news about the Vietnam War. I watched first-run re-runs of Speedracer. And the Thunderbirds. And all the Godzilla movies (since I lived in Hawaii in the very early 70's). I remember TRS-80's and thinking they were the ultimate in home/school computing. I remember the punch card things, but I recall the cassette tapes more. I remember when Paul McCartney and Wings was controversial since the Beatles hadn't been broken up that long... I wore bell bottoms. I remember Michael Jackson when he was still a teen. I remember Sigmond and the Seamonsters. I remember H&R Puffin Stuff. "Can't get a little, can't get enough" I remember a time when Pampers didn't really exist... if they did, it was for emergency use. I remember my mom's typewriter that I loved to play with until I actually had to start writing typed papers. I remember (and loved) my parent's 8-track collection. I now have some of those old tapes on cd. I wanted a Pet Rock, but my mom thought better of it. We had a Vista Cruiser. With wood panels on it. I remember Kiss before they made their movie. I remember the Kiss movie. I remember being able to walk home from school (almost a mile) in Long Beach, California when I was in the FIRST grade. (Would anyone let their kiddo do that now? I'm certain I wouldn't.) I remember the world before AIDS. I was actually on the set of an episode of CHIPS once. They were filming at my community pool in CA. Somewhere here, I even have an autographed picture of Eric Estrada. I remember seeing Star Wars for the first time at a drive-in theater. I guess you could say I'm old. I'll be thirty-four in October. After I started thinking about stuff for this post I'm beginning to think I'm old. But I'm not. I just have a really good memory. And apparently I trust ya'll way too much. I've never admitted to the bell bottoms. Mostly.

homeschoolmom
Oh, we like you... please don't run off pouting... The world before AIDS-- yep, I remember that.... and all the other things... My first grade class picture has me in these horrble plaid pants-- what were people thinking?? Remember the Atlanta child murders? I remember when they caught the guy who did it (Williams, I think) and everyone was surprised that he was black because they thought the murders were race related (black victims).... Pope St Clement 1
Kilroy the Ninja
I remember seeing Star Wars for the first time at a drive-in theater.
I remember reading about this soon to be released film called "Star Wars". I didn't get to go and see it but my friends did. It was the talk of the school. Walking home from school in the first grade - yep, I remember that - in fact I don't we were ever walked home by Mum or Dad! Not having a car, we used to walk to school as well. It's sad that it's not as safe as it was then. Voiciblanche, we wrinkleds still like ya.
