Pope St Clement 1
I was thinking I'm feeling old compared to some here. I can actually remember a time before VCRs, when electronic typewriters were the latest and TV channels had to be turned by hand At Karriholm an 8 year old girl pointed to an old typewriter and asked "What's that?". When I answered she said "What's a typewriter?". Then I had to explain her how letters were written in the "olden days" before computers (The best one though was when a 4 year old boy matter of factly informed the other children at Child Care "When Robert was born there wasn't any people around - only babies and dinosaurs !") So I'm curious - who's another Phatmass oldie and what was in when you were a teen? Blessings
Mrs. Bro. Adam
Well...the only thing I'll reveal about my age is that I'm old enough to be married I remember when Punky Bruster (sp?) was hot (in, cool, whatever you wanna call it).
homeschoolmom
I'm 35. I graduated in '87. I remember in college ('90), one of my profs saying that if we had any questions, we could "email" her and she gave us her address. I didn't pay any attention. I thought, "I'm almost out of college... I don't know what the heck this 'email' thing is... I'll never need it." I do remember writing out papers in longhand and painstakingly typing them... and retyping them, if need be... No cutting and pasting back then!! Lounge Daddy
So I'm curious - who's another Phatmass oldie and what was in when you were a teen?
hmmm... When I was a teen people were still asking if things were "IBM compatible" Nirvana, EMF, and the broad spectrum of alternative music was in Street Fighter 2, the Cheers finale, Tim Allen, Bat-Man t-shirts, Desert Storm, hippy wannabe's at school saying "have sex - not war", big time on The Red Hot Chili Peppers (I’m in Grand Rapids, MI), Army of Darkness, "WWJD", and trying to forget the men wearing makeup and teased hair during the 80's

Norseman82
I'm old enough to remember Pope Paul VI (VERY early teens). It was in freshman year history class that the announcement that the new Pope was the cardinal from Krakow, Poland, and the teacher, Brigdeport Chicago Irish, sent someone to the office to ask the priest making the announcement, Fr. Kielbasa (I don't think we need to ask what nationality he is!!) if it was just a big joke.

homeschoolmom
I remember when Pope John Paul I died and the whole big deal of getting a new pope... I was pretty young (9 or 10) and pretty Protestant... but I remember it being a big deal. I never got into the 80's big hair, though... (although, I'll confess to moderate bangs)... I did have all the other 80's stuff though...

thicke
I was a teen when rap was still an infant. I can remember wanting to go see the Beastie Boys but not being able to because I was too young. We later found out the show was canceled because "King" Adrock was too young also.... That's Memphis for you! I can remember filling out my absentee ballot while I was in training for the National Guard. It was the summer after my senior year of high school. I'm pretty sure I voted for Bush, but not the one we have now though.... Edited July 6, 2004 by thicke

theculturewarrior
I had a computer before computers had hard drives, all it had was 64K of RAM...and the floppies were bigger and barely held anything compared to today recording devices!
