BarbTherese
I have really prayed to the Holy Spirit about posting this and making a coffee and have a cigarette before I pray again before hitting "Submit Topic". I am hoping it will not turn into a debate. If it does, then this thread should be ideally transferred by moderation to the Debate Forum. If a debate does evolve, then I will be also asking moderators to transfer the thread. (Quite personally I very much doubt that I would participate in a debate forum at any time. Not on Pham here, but I have long experience of debate forums and 'character assassination'. I get the jitters even thinking about posting into a debate forum anywhere. Truth is, my hand keeps shaking on and off just writing this Opening Post even ). I am hoping, by putting this thread into Open Mic, interested readers might make their own reliable resource searches and come to their own educated conclusion. My 'educated conclusions' are only on a very amateur researcher basis. I try to keep an open mind on any unfolding situation. I am always interested in world affairs and prayerfully. I am particularly interested in the China - Western Pacific region just now as we (Australia) are right in the middle of the evolving tensions (economic and military) as something of a crisis for all Australians, but not only us. There is no call for fear nor undue anxiety. The crisis re the Western Pacific and the South China Sea problems will either have a happy resolution, or it wont. If there is a happy resolution we can give thanks to God for His Direct Will in the problems. If it does not resolve happily, God has Permitted (God's Permissive Will) it to happen because He knows He can bring a greater good out of any bad/negative situation whatsoever...and still a call for great thanks to God...be the bad/negative situation very great or most minute. Let it be = Amen. Australia demands China apologize for posting 'repugnant' fake image https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-55126569 (The image on Twitter has been blocked here Australia as disinformation - well, I suppose insofar as that is possible with the internet. Our Prime Minister has asked Twitter to eliminate the false and offensive twitter as well. Will they? We can only hope so - meanwhile, it is probably all over the net anyway). Our Prime Minister, Scott Morrison (Scommo), in the face of the offensive twitter seems to abandon his diplomatic type statements to confront China directly and losing his usual cool, diplomacy orientated, approach. ___________________ My comments and perspective only: What China seems unaware of as their tariffs on Australian goods increase along with their latest disinformation move on Twitter, is that the whole world would be watching the unfoldings. It is a warning to other countries exporting goods to China of what can happen as China uses tariffs and now Twitter disinformation to bring pressure on to a country (Australia) to obey China's will re the Western Pacific region and South China Seas, in this instance. Australia is standing up to China, at a time when our primary ally, the USA, is in a difficult position indeed with their horrific COVID crisis and their internal current status quo in the USA between President-Elect Biden and the current unpredictable President Trump - and it could continue until 20 January 2021! Much could happen until then, very much. Also, Donald Trump will be passing over to Joe Biden the USA in a real COVID mess and crisis of literal life and death re American citizens in the USA - for one only major problem for a brand new President Biden. Our own Australian exporters to China have been weakened (due to the China increased import tariffs) as they search for alternative markets to China. And/or diversify themselves for markets not in China. We are standing up to China both for Australia, and as one leader in the Western Pacific region. Late September 2019: India and China: https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/topic/Political-standoff China's latest move to bring more pressure to bear on Australia is the false and repugnant disinformation on Twitter as in my Opening Post above. "How The Communist Party runs The Country" :https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-49631120 "CHINA HAS TWO PATHS TO GLOBAL DOMINATION" from website, foreignpolicy.com - https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/05/22/china-superpower-two-paths-global-domination-cold-war/ It is not easy at all to try to check out a website for reliability. I do my best with all links I might post. My check on the website foreignpolicy.com states "High reliability" https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/center/ Video - go to 33 seconds - Scommo (Prime Minister Scott Morrison) speaks out against China's latest move to bring increased pressure on Australia: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-26/china-has-control-south-china-sea-australia-confrontation/12491366 "I am concerned that while the United States and our partners focus on supporting one another during these challenging times, the Chinese Communist Party continues to engage in systematic rule breaking, coercion and other malign activities." Far from slowing China's activities, this year's coronavirus pandemic has had the effect of giving cover to the People's Liberation Army as it keeps up the rapid tempo of its territorial expansion in the region .............Editor's note August 13, 2020: This story was updated to clarify that it is a widely held view within Australia's defence establishment that China has essentially established military control over the South China Sea." _____ Incidentally, my ancestors on Mum's side were Chinese. On my Dad's side, French. East is east and west is west and never the twain shall meet........and all that jazz. I had so many windows open, I accidentally closed the Pham window with this Open Mic thread and Opening Post. I thought it was lost, came back to check and thankfully it was still here.....(how to check: click on to New Post in the related Forum and simply left click - the 'lost post' will either be there or it wont.)
