BeenaBobba
A person would not use it to drink coke out of it.
That'd be so horrible!
I cringed at the very thought.
Me too. Yikes! God bless, Jen
BeenaBobba
She was baptised in a cooler?
Haha. No! She was baptized in a horse trough used in her church to baptize adults by full immersion. Later, people from her church used the trough as a cooler -- and that's where her beef's at. BeenaBobba
Nevertheless, I'm going to go out on a limb and say, yes, this was wrong, although I do believe there are bigger fish to fry, and I know that Catholics are capable of similar abuses.
I'd tend to agree with that, for sure. I do think, however, that my friend was right to get upset. I would be upset, too, if I was in that position. To the best of my knowledge, the font I was baptized over still stands in my church.
Using the Chalice for coke is an apt analogy. Once the locals where I lived disinterred a cemetery, and used the tombstones of the Black soldiers buried there (it was a national cemetery) for bricks. It strikes me as the same kind of disrespect.
Yikes. That's horrible! I think disrespecting a baptismal font would be more serious, though, as I'd think a baptismal font would be a sacred thing being its usage is for sacred purposes. I see what you're saying, though. Mickey's_Girl
Oh yeah...like the church building where my mom was confirmed, etc. is now used by the church's boy scout troop as a haunted house (big moneymaker for the troop)... It's just sad. It feels wrong, somehow. MG
