I am so accustomed to using terms that have a specific meaning, which can differ from their vernacular usage, that it hadn't occurred to me that using the term 'erotic' would be taken as implying any impurity. Images of God are often valuable - parent, spouse, burning bush, etc. I often have thought that, with full knowledge of the transcendent God being so beyond us, it was lovely that we are left with simple images such as bread, water, wine, and oil. There is nothing strange about the image of Christ as Spouse (though that has a dimension of ecclesiology, not just one of personal love). But the initial post gave me an impression of great fear and confusion, particularly in the element of seeing a demonic infiltration of some kind.
