okay this thread is starting because the topic came up in another thread...anyways, have you ever gotten lyrics totally wrong?

here are some of what's been posted already:

littleflower said:
my sister was listening to marsill and barely got the line that says, "If your tired of being po'" meant "if your tired of being poor"
traichuoi said:
that's okay...i've misheard songs before...

you know "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John? I used to think he sang "Hold me closer Tony Danza..." lol

and the song "Danger Zone," i used to think he sang, "Alleluia, Danger zone..."

yea, need to clean out my ears... lol
littleflower said:
yeah like "shes got a ticket to ride" from the beatles adn thinking its "shes got a chicken to ride"
immaculata said:
In the Monkees' song "I'm a Believer," my friend Jenny thought that "Mr. Point Man haunted all my dreams".........
and one last one to add:

my brother used to think the "Celebrate good times, come on" song went, "Celebration now, oh yeah"

post your ignorance now!!!

well being Cajun when i was younger I would sing the Jambalaya song. part of it goes "Jambalaya, a-crawfish pie and a file gumbo"

I would get Jambalaya, a crawfish pie right but when it came to "a file gumbo" I would say " I fell in gumbo"

My parents thought it was adorable

Ash Wednesday

You know what these funny things are called? Mondegreens!

One of my own:
"I lost my fortune waiting for the new moon on monday"
Actual lyric:
"I light my torch and wave it for the new moon on monday"
(Duran Duran, New Moon on Monday)

Other funnies:

"Baking Carrot Biscuits"
(Taking care of business)

"Scuse me while I kiss this guy"
(Scuse me while I kiss the sky) Jimi Hendrix

"Music is the bathtub of my soul"
(Music is the doctor of my soul) Doobie Brothers

"And I feel like a disco ball"
(And I feel like I just got home) Madonna

One of my friends' kids (3 yrs. old) was singing the hymn "And Can It Be." The last line is, "Amazing love, how can it be, that thou my God shouldst die for me."

She belts out, "Amazing love, how can it be, that thou my God shouldst starve for me."

When I was younger, I thought Zeppelin's, "Goin' to California with an achin' in my heart," said, "Goin' to California with an acorn in my heart."

My niece had some real good ones, but unfortunately I can't remember the original! There was one by Britney Spears that she always mutilated. She would sing, "the lonely pocket girl." But alas, I can't remember the song!

My niece also messed up the Our Father when she was learning it. "Our Father, who aren't in Heaven."

yawl are so crazy...when I was like 5 the jingle for I think toyota was "Like a rock" and I used to always sing "High-goo-rah". I don't even know what that means but it made sense in my head. Or maybe I speak my own different "special" language ha ha.
