it looks like the prayers of conservatives may have been answered.

this should prove to set forth an eventful chain of events.

no more lettin john roberts stand in the way of a conservative majority on the court.

this one's for all the marbles

her stubbornness in refusing to resign years ago, caught up with her in the end

What a truly horrible thing to post @linate. Words fail me. What is happening to Christians that they rejoice over the death of another? How very un-pro-life of you.

have you read the bible? the old testament particularly? God isn't opposed to using death to accomplish his goals. if this was God's will, shouldn't his will being done be the answer to our prayer?

Of course I have read the Bible. Have you read the part where Jesus comes and tells us to love our enemies and to turn the other cheek and to forgive others? If you worship the old testament God and have no time for what Jesus tried to teach us, then what can I say to you? He certainly didn't say to rejoice when your enemies died. She did have family you know, who are devastated by their loss. to them she was more than just a judge. Have a little heart and compassion and save your politics for just a little bit later. Be nice.

This woman was an eighty-seven year old mother and grandmother. Any "Christian" who thinks the death of an old woman who died without the Sacraments and any evidence of faith in Jesus Christ is an occasion for celebration ought examine himself to make sure that he is actually in the faith.

Did I say celebration? I don't think so. But I do think compassion and mercy are certainly deserved for any human being. If you are trying to insult me by questioning whether I am 'in the faith' then I doubt a really productive discussion is going to be had here. I simply felt that we could respect this woman (her faith is between her and God, whose son, after all, was a Jew) and have compassion for her family, and save the rejoicing for a more appropriate time. But we don't need to continue this conversation if you are simply going to insult me as well as rejoice at a human death.

My response was nakedly not directed at you. No possible understanding of context and the basic rules of the written language could give you that impression.

God bless

Insofar as you are illiterate, that is probably for the best.

Now that is me being nasty.

cruciatacara,

My first reply was to Linate. The second reply I gave to you was not intended as an offensive one. I am very blunt and occasionally acidic, but I try very hard to govern myself. I fail. Often.

I did not write my first two responses clearly enough to make it clear that I was in the first not talking to you and in the second trying to explain that I wasn't talking to you.

As for my THIRD response I have no excuse. It was deliberately rude and hurtful. I would delete it if I was able. Please in the Name of the Lord Jesus please, please, please forgive me. I am a New Yorker. I don't know better. I am sorry and will make it my business to communicate my sorrow to you.

@cutenickname Your apology is accepted and I thank you for it. As far as I am concerned the matter ends here.

As far as @linateis concerned, I have hidden all posts from that user so won't need to worry in future.

Peace to you both.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s dying wish is that her replacement is not chosen until after the next election.  I fervently agree with Justice Ginsburg’s thinking.

Let us pray that powers at be, respect and see the wisdom in her wish.

It would be wrong and Foolish to to do otherwise, given the political atmosphere surrounding the upcoming election.

All that effort, her whole life, and her most lasting legacy may be turning the court right. She was thinking about this as she lay dying. All her efforts undone by one mistake of ego: refusing to retire, when asked, during the Obama administration.  Think on that! How tragic! Ego and pride wait patiently for their chance to destroy our lifes work.
