remnant
Praised be Jesus Christ! This is what I liked the most: 1. What a great Vocation movie. He was called and answered the call to use his gift, even giving up the girl. Right on! Spidey. 2. When he stopped believeing in his calling he lost the power 3. He sacrificed his life for the people on the subway and even look as if he was being crucified (even had a slit on his side) 4. The bad guys were not intrinsically bad but possesed. Great Catholic theology. We believe that we are not intrinsically bad but wounded due to original sin and thus prone to evil. 5. Even Doc Oc said, "I will not die a monster" Even the bad guys have moral character. It is a great moral movie!!! I want to do a Spiderman Retreat for my parish. What do you guys think!!! in Him, with Him, through Him, remnant
toledo_jesus
You know, that's something I noticed about the Green Goblin in the last movie. He wasn't really evil, he was insane. And Doctor Octopus was under the influence of his tentacles. The best thing about these villains is that they achieve the status of characters and not caricatures. They are flawed men, driven men, who are consumed by forces they can't control. Doctor Octopus even redeems himself at the end. I loved Doc Ock. MAN was he great. That train scene was so TIGHT. One thing I was a little disturbed by was the O.R. scene where Doc Ock kills all the doctors...that was frightening.
Aloysius
as soon as spidey let go of what he wanted the most, he got it
universal
In terms of vocational celibacy it seems that it teaches that only super-heros can give up women, normal men can't do that. It teaches that it is unhealthy for ordinary men to give it up and only in weird and extraordinary circumstances when they are forced to should they give up the girl. Priests are ordinary men called to live an extraordinary life. I am not so sure the messages are good ones.
