I have a study Bible that I highlight in and make short notes. This is the only Bible I have that I will write in. My others don't have a mark in them.

[quote name='Norseman82' date='Jul 3 2004, 02:16 PM'] Let me tell you one thing I am tempted to do with a bible, though. When I hear
Catholic speakers give talks at Catholic gatherings and say things that are either doctrinally incorrect OR, more often, are just mean-spirited, I want to confront them with a portion of the bible (especially the gospels) and, if they just brush it off, announce loudly, "OK, tear this page out of the bible!" and dramatically rip it out for the shock value. Allright, I am lazy and I am now just writing here... I need to get myself a sturdy study bible. I have the nice old pretty one down and the nice free Bible that is now falling apart that I've highlighted and put little post-it tabs to certian verses... and I also highlight the verses... I only write on occasion... I only write something if it is important, like if it is a reading I have to do... I never write reflections though... that gies in the journal in my brain... ^_^

My anwser to this poll is yes and no...

I write all over my bible. Ive got the Fireside Study edition of the NAB. Mainly underlining my favorite verses but occasionally ill write a little bit of divine inspiration when it falls from heaven. You know, when you're reading scripture, and you suddenly make some really spin and insightful connection that you never noticed before. I am part of a retreat ministry called Life of Peter Ministries and I give a lot of talks. So when God graces me with new material from divine revelation, i want to be able to reference it. I figure He wanted to reveal it to me for a reason and it's best that i use it.

i usually only write in my Bible if it is a factual historical note that would help me better to understand what was happening at the time. I know when I was in my high school religion class I wrote some in a few places in revelation and in romans.
