little2add
. And people stayed at home And read books And listened And they rested And did exercises And made art and played And learned new ways of being And stopped and listened More deeply Someone meditated, someone prayed Someone met their shadow And people began to think differently And people healed. And in the absence of people who Lived in ignorant ways Dangerous, meaningless and heartless, The earth also began to heal And when the danger ended and People found themselves They grieved for the dead And made new choices And dreamed of new visions And created new ways of living And completely healed the earth Just as they were healed. This text is actually a modern-day poem written during the COVID-19 coronavirus disease pandemic by author Catherine M. O’Meara. It is being falsely printed under the title “Poem written by Kathleen O’Mara during the 1919 pandemic.”
ardillacid
Someone snitched on their neighbor for going to the park. Millions died from the economic destruction. Authoritarians never relinquished the rights seized from citizens. Small businesses were ruined, but mega-corporations continued to flourish. little2add
A Roman Catholic priest in the Detroit area has taken aim at his parishioners in a bid to maintain social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic, using a squirt gun to shoot holy water. Luigi
This from a Dominican friar. I found it insightful. "As I sat in the Church all alone wearing a face covering, I thought, “This is silly.” Then I remembered I was also wearing a 13th century religious habit. Sometimes we wear something & make a small sacrifice with a greater & more beautiful end in mind."

Strange, how some do not see that the holy water (a blessing) and a gun, even plastic cannot go together. There was no need to do this by the way: just take a good Eastern Orthodox brush that creates very long-reaching Pollock-like splashes: This is even a better photo
little2add
catholic priest use a "aspergillum" a aspergillum is a liturgical implement used to sprinkle holy water. It comes in two common forms: 1. a brush that is dipped in the water and shaken, and 2. a perforated ball at the end of a short handle. this is a aspergillum or A.K.A. a holy water sprinkler the perforated ball at the end of a short handle type is the one I'm most familiar with. Anastasia
I have experienced only a ball. The sprinkling was very sparse I must say, compare to the Orthodox blessing when all congregation is literally soaked. And most Orthodox think the more holy water the better is a blessing. It may sound silly but Orthodoxy is very "physical" or "sensual" (from senses) faith, in a sense.
