The Vatican has implemented special health measures and cancelled some events as more than 500 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Italy.

Hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed in Vatican City offices, and there is a nurse and a doctor on call at a Vatican clinic to give immediate assistance, Holy See Press Office Director Matteo Bruni told Vatican News.

While there have been no diagnosed cases of the coronavirus in Vatican City, Bruni said on February 24 that Vatican health staff have worked with the Italian Ministry of Health on procedures which can be brought into action, and are in close contact with the regional authorities in Lazio.

There won’t be just a red zone,” Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said, in announcing that a lockdown covering about 16 million people in the north would be expanded to the entire country starting Tuesday.

Pope Francis' daily Mass from Casa Santa Marta will be livestreamed as of Monday, March 9. Pope Francis made this decision so as to be closer to those who are ill, in quarantine or, for whatever reason, unable to leave their homes.

"due to the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus, the Holy Father has decided that the private Masses celebrated by him in the Casa Santa Marta be broadcast live in the coming days”.

UndividedlyHis

My monastery aspirancy was postponed today due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country where the monastery is located (not Italy), as the authorities have asked that the monasteries and convents do not accept any pilgrims, aspirants and postulants while the quarantine still lasts. Praying for all those affected! Lord have mercy!
