Sick Just Before Internship Starts

Please pray for me. Last Thursday I started getting a cold. The next day it got a lot worse. It got even worse today. My internship starts on Monday. I'd be really embarrassed if I'm still doing badly. I live with my parents. My mom is normally very against those of us in the house taking sick days. This could result in a fight. She recently had a heated argument with my brother about it, though to be fair, she does suspect that he's eating things that don't agree with his stomach.

I just took my temperature after eating ice cream and the thermometer read 102.6. I'm coughing, have a soar throat, it sometimes hurts to swallow, it hurts to talk, people have a hard time understanding my sick voice, my nose is stuffed up sometimes, and my nose runs. I've been trying to sleep, not to much avail despite the over the counter medicine I've taken. I'll be working in a free clinic, so they're not going to want me to bring in germs. Besides, for part of my job, I need to do appointment reminders and communicate with other staff members. That's going to be a problem if I'm incessantly coughing and people have a hard time understanding me. I don't want to make a bad impression on them by not showing up on the first day and for however many days after that. This internship only lasts 5 weeks.

I may have to go to urgent care after all, despite that people keep warning against using antibiotics too much. They're probably going to do a strep-throat test, which I despise, especially since once it made my throat hurt worse.

Getting medical diagnosis a wise move, you sound quite unwell and if you did show up for work, your unwell state would be obvious and your attendance in all likelihood not appreciated.  Taking sick time is also an act of concern for fellow staff and those attending clinic.

Prayer for your intentions

I got tested and have Influenza A. My dad was diagnosed with it too last night in the emergency room. Mom admits that she accused my brother of faking sick because she thought that he was avoiding school and he probably brought it into the house from a classmate.

I emailed the place I start at tomorrow, apologized, and forwarded the doctor's note. I've been throwing up vomit and phlegm.
