Saint Martin's Abbey in Oregon - January 1 at 5:17 PM ·

Abbot Neal and the monks of Saint Martin's Abbey give thanks and praise for the simple profession of Br. Michael Ferman on January 1, 2020, the Feast of Mary Mother of God. Simple profession is the profession of temporary vows at the conclusion of the one-year novitiate. Br. Michael now enters the juniorate phase of monastic life, typically a three-year period preceding solemn vows. We ask that you continue to pray for his discernment, formation, and perseverance.

"Holy Cross Abbey - Berryville, VA

January 10 at 10:53 AM ·

On Saturday we were grateful to welcome our newest postulant, Br. Tom Morris. Following a simple post-Vespers ceremony Br. Tom officially began his time of initial formation and now joins Br. John and Br. Gregory in the novitiate. We ask you to unite with us in praying for his ongoing discernment in the months ahead and, God willing, his perseverance in the monastic life here at Holy Cross Abbey."

Holy Cross has only 9 monks in final vows. It's wonderful to see three men in formation now. Let us pray for more.

From Holy Cross Trappist Abbey in Virginia:

"February 4 at 7:46 AM ·

On Sunday morning we had the happy occasion of witnessing Brother Gregory Wilson receive the Cistercian Habit and formally begin his two-year novitiate. In keeping with a long monastic tradition, Brother Gregory felt led to take a new name—that of the great Prophet Elijah. We thank God for bringing Brother Elijah to this important juncture in his monastic life, and we call on his powerful patron to intercede for, and accompany, our brother in his ongoing preparation for monastic vows."

Br. Gregory (now Br. Elijah) was mentioned above as one of three men in formation at Holy Cross. So they now have two postulants and a novice.

From the Dominican Friars, Province of Saint Joseph (Eastern US):

Br. Damian Day, Br. Philip Nolan, Br. Reginald Hoefer, ... Br. Frassati Davis, Br. James Ritch, and Br. Simon Teller!"

"Passionist Nuns' Monastery in Ellisville, MO

February 4 at 11:52 AM ·

Another little job for the new kid...picking up dirty silverware and other used dinnerware after each meal! Postulant Caitlin, in a new look, prepares to get a cart and go to work at a recent noon meal. Hand in hand with the Blessed Virgin Mary, she is doing very well, all around!

She wishes to give everyone this message, which is our motto, "May the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ be always in our hearts! "

Caitlin entered on February 2, 2020.
