BarbTherese
Please say a prayer for bushfire affected areas: Out of Control Bushfires across New South Wales and Queensland "Fire fighters battle more than 80 bushfires burning across NSW while 50 bushfires rage in Queensland Unprecedented bushfires have destroyed at least 100 homes and caused “apocalyptic” scenes across New South Wales and Queensland." penitent60
Terrifying images eh! Hope you are well away from all of that BT. My brother lives in the Springsure area of the Gold Coast hinterland in a very gum tree forested area, family and friends in the Sunshine Coast, Noosa region and points north mostly on the land. One friend has been told to prepare for evacuation and she has her kit together.Sounds as if the whole eastern part of Australia is on fire. Here in EnZed expecting rain and wind. Guest
I am nowhere near the New South Wales and Queensland bushfires myself, but do know people in the area. I hope your loved ones in the area will be safe.
Guest
"High temperatures, strong winds and dry air are expected to combine tomorrow to create one of the most dangerous bushfire days in Australian history." HERE The map below is from the website MyFireWatch here, which is run at the behest of the Western Australian government to give the general public live information about fires. The red marks on this map show the fires that started most recently. A huge chunk of the country – obviously focused around northern New South Wales – is on fire right now. And tomorrow it's only going to get worse.
penitent60
An annual horror, some years worse than others....this being a very bad one. It is interesting that California planted eucalyptus by the thousands .....didnt they realise how volatile the oils were. Australia is full of it too but one can hardly concrete the whole continent.
