His mind just couldn’t conceptualize abusing a kid, so he didn’t know what to do. I think that happened a lot. By the way, Pope Francis has a great handshake. It would pass muster in Texas. They dropped in panels and snapped them together and it ended up being the size of four mobile homes. It has been a systemic abuse from the top. Poor leadership, poor formation , a loss of direction etc. Personally, I believe the persecution of Cardinal George Pell is a case in point.
