Sojourner
He might look at you sadly as you expire ... but I don't know about his usefulness in terms of saving your life. Who knows, though, maybe he'd come through in a pinch.
GirlInTheWhiteArmor
Yeah, dogs are cool, but birds are better. You don't have to clean up as much mess, they don't cost as much to feed and they talk! Does it get any better than that? Maybe I sould change my name or something...I have a feeling I'm going to be assassinated.....

Mickey's_Girl
The "Lassie" theme song and "Greensleeves": Do they sound alike, or no? My co-worker insists they do.
Well, they *sort of* sound alike, but not enough for me ever to have noticed, and I'm a big one for songs-that-sound-alike. I could be wrong, but I think the Lassie song is in a major key, while Greensleeves is minor. Also, I dislike dogs because a) I was bitten by one at age 6, b) I've developed an allergy to them and now they make me sneeze and sniffle, and c) they are nasty in that they invade your VERY personal space in extreme ways. Yuck. I will not go on to tell stories of the nasty things I have seen dogs do, but I'm sure if you have a dog, you know. That said, dog-lovers don't seem to care about that much. So it's pointless to argue. I'm not a big pet person, but if I had a pet, it would be a cat, for these reasons: 1) They leave you alone more; they are independent 2) If you go on vacation, you can leave them food and water and don't have to worry about anything 3) They keep mice away (a big consideration for me) 4) They're easier to clean up after, excrement-wise. 5) You don't have to walk them 2-3 hours a day. Now of course, they shed (most of them), and if you have a misbehaving cat, they can be worse than a dog. Also, many of the reasons I describe are exactly why people DON'T like cats. But that's my piece. MG
Jake Huether
What that article doesn't mention is how the girl got there (more than a mile away from home) in the first place. It was probably the dog that led her there! LOL. Dog's are smart like that. He set himself up to be the hero. Hahaha.
