MichaelFilo
What Catholic beliefs are is what they believe in. I am not here to downgrade or say anything wrong about your faith. I am here to learn how your faith is brought upon. I have read many discussions and have come to find out that there are some issues that need to be looked over. Example: Abortion. No matter what, abortion should be illegal. That's what Catholics believe because in the eyes of GOD, it's considered murder. But what about the entity that is bearing that unborn child in her womb? What happens if she by chance has to have the unborn child remove due to a health problem and she cannot carry that unborn entity to term? If she tries to carry the unborn child to term, she will die. So who is the murderer? The mother to be, the unborn child, or the doctor? I know this discussion should be in another post, but I just wanted to clarify these questions. Like I have mentioned before, I am not here to judge on anyones beliefs. I am here to ask questions and hope to get some answers.
You refer to Catholicism as my faith, you said however, that you are a non-practicing Catholic. Did you intend to say that you are a Catholic who picks and chooses what they like that is taught in the Church and discards the rest? ( I am not intending to be mean, and too many Catholics fall into the category. ) It may be good to note that the Catholic church doesn't err, therefore there is nothing in need of being looked over, however I assume you mean, there are issues that you need clarified. On to the abortion. Quite simply, no direct abortion option is allowed, because that is murder. Rather, treatment is allowed which MAY kill the baby, but it cannot have the direct effect and purpose of killing the baby. Abortion for any reason is wrong, because it is murder. When a baby dies even after treatement and attempts to save both lives, then it would be "the lesser of two evils", because the baby did die, but the greater evil would have been to kill it, as opposed to it dieing during treatment. Thats basically what the article says, as far as I can tell. God Bless, Mikey
Spriles
it's interesting, God created the world and it was 'good.' Yet, it took us until Christ to have the concept of God as Father. Interesting how the ideas evolved. Almost like God planned it that way . . . Peace, Joe
You are a little off here Joe. The idea didn't evolve. We were not able to call God father until Christ died. Up until that point the "Father Figure" in the Bible was Abraham. John 1: 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- We may only refer to God as "Father" after we become a child of God. cmotherofpirl
Jesus taught the Apostles the Our Father before he died. Nowhere does it say that the Apostles had to wait until after his death to call on God the Father. We become a child of God at Baptisim.
Spriles
God isn't your father until you are his Child. And baptism doesn't make you a child of God.
