Calling All "non Catholics"

Hmm...I know so many people who think Science and Religion are mortal enemies, most people I know actually think that.

Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, the guy who grew all those peas in a monastery garden, was an Augustinian monk.

Georges Lemaitre, who worked out the Big Bang theory on the origins of the universe in the 1920's was a Catholic priest.

One of the oldest astrological institutes in the world is run by the Vatican. Since the eighteeenth century the Vatican funded and operated a series of astronomical observatories (the central location is at Caastel Gandolfo, the pope's summer residencce)

Science and Religion can't go together. Oh, and a priest figured out the Big Bang, a monk discovered genetics and the pope's got a huge telescope in his summer house. Figures.
If someone asked you to prove God scientifically, anyone would struggle.
You should take a metaphysics class for fun, Morph. ;) :P I don't think I could explain this all that well as I need to start going to bed earlier... but,

God is that-than-which-nothing-greater-can-be-thought.

Have you read Aristotle at all? Or Aquinas?

What if she were going to be Byzantine, or another Eastern rite? :P

On a more serious note, before I reconciled with the Church (still an ongoing process) I used to tell my non-Catholic friends, "until you understand something, you can't knock it"

Maybe you should catch up on your Catholic reading... but be forewarned, Catholic theology is an endless abyss. You'll not reach the end until united with God.
