thicke
from the Brown Scapular Q&A site
You are correct in what you said that subsequent scapular do not need to be blessed. I only trust the website you provided because it seems to be cut & pasted from a few Carmelite websites like the following. crusader1234
I just thought I'd point out that the point of scapulars is that they are annoying - the wool scratches the skin just like the plastic. Its like pennance.

Rebirth flame
ok, green scapulars rock they are known for: bringing faith to those who have none or have lost it strengthening the faith of those who have found it healing those with ailments now, you do not need to be invested with this inparticular scapular (investment is what the enrollment process is refered to as). There is a prayer that you are to pray every day if you have this scapular, or if you have given to someone for their healing/conversion, and it goes like this: "Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death." don't say "amen" at the end of this prayer, however, cuz it's an ongoing prayer that never ends! based on the sincerity of your prayer (just as with any other prayer), more/less graces will be obtained. For the conversion of another person, you can give the scapular to them, and they can choose to wear it if they'd like... however, most of the time (in almost every case, tho there are some that are open to wearing it) the person whom you wish would be converted would rather not have the Scapular on them... so (this is cool) you can hide it on their premacis, either in a car, or in their house, or on their property all together. i'm not too sure about burying it to get it on their property, cuz that is one of the methods of disposing of a sacramental... but you can hide it outdoors on their property if you'd like, just make sure it doesn't get mowed over or picked up by a bird or something... maybe under a large rock or something...? Devotion to the Blessed Mother and her Son are the main purpose behind scapulars, and i was talking to someone who told me that the Graces and Promises made by the scapular are not contained within the fabric itself (cuz i wanted to get a Green Scapular inside the local abortion clinic, except i'dve gotten arrested and prosecuted...) and so if you find it quite difficult to get the scapular on the premisis of the person you'd like converted, pray as fervently as ever (if not with more zeal) as though the scapular were actually on their property. It rocks how we're given so many different ways to show devotion to Our Lord and the Blessed Mother! God is soooo awesome!!! oh yea, one last thing... i didn't read the link provided, so i don't know if what i just said was throwing sand against the tide, but i hope i helped somehow... take care, and may the Blessings of the Most Holy Trinity always be found within you! ~rebirth

crusader1234
I still say that getting rid of a scapular because it annoys you defeats the purpose.
