New Scapular?

Philippe

Recommended Posts

ok so i went to the store the other day and picked up a brown scapular. I got the only thing they had and it was laminated. little did i know that this would bug the heck outta me cause like it scratches on my back and itches and its really not very fun to wear. It really causes me to not wear it and i was wondering, if i were to get a non laminated scapular what would i do with my other one. Would i have to get the new one reblessed? Can i get a new one or is there a rule against it?

Thanks

No, no need to get it re-blessed; once you've been clothed with the scapular, you're in. ;)

if you buy a new scapular that has yet to be blessed you need to get it blessed, so yep if you bought a new one it would need to be blessed. You are supposed to be enrolled into the scapular by your priest as well. Once you're enrolled into the scapular and you need a new one all you have to do is have it blessed.

Wait, what's this "enrollment"? I have a green scapular, and I got it blessed by my priest, but I wasn't "enrolled." Should I have been?

I'm not sure about the green scapular but I know with the brown scapular you are enrolled in it by your priest.
Q. Do I simply begin wearing the Brown Scapular, or must I be invested in it first?
A.To obtain the fullest possible benefits from the Brown Scapular devotion, one must be validly invested (sometimes called "enrolled") in the Brown Scapular.  A Catholic can be invested in the Brown Scapular by a priest, or by a lay person with the necessary faculty, using a scapular blessed by a priest.  After proper enrollment in the Scapular, a person need not have subsequent scapulars blessed.  Once enrolled. you are enrolled until death. A Scapular Ritual for Priests, which also has the special blessing for the first scapular, is available upon request from the Blue Army.
hmmm i made a mistake only be enrolled and you don't have to have replacement scapulars blessed.

It's not supposed to be fun to wear. Mine itches me too, but I pray for it to be more uncomfortable everyday. You should wear the one that's uncomfortable and offer your suffering up to God for the poor souls in Purgatory.

If it's lamented, be careful burning it. The fumes could be toxic. I think it's alright if you just bury it.

I could be wrong about this, but I believe you need to get a new scapular blessed. You just don't need to be re-enrolled.
