Pio Nono
JMJ 6/30 - Thirteenth Wednesday lifeteener, Good question; usually, modern Bible translations are done from three sources: the Greek Bible (which is the canonical, inspired version), a set of Biblical books in ancient Hebrew discovered at Mt. Sinai, and another ancient Hebrew set kept at the Vatican. Translations done before the Second Vatican Council (Douay-Rheims and Knox especially) relied heavily on the Latin Vulgate, the official Latin translation of the Bible. Hope this helps.
