Marian Religious Orders

Does anyone know of Religious Orders that have a strong Marian devotion? Thanks!

The Sisters of Mary Immaculate Queen are a traditional Catholic Religious Congregation dedicated to preserving and spreading the true Faith and promoting the message of Our Lady of Fatima. The Congregation was founded in order to provide women with an opportunity to strive for personal holiness through the observance of the simple vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, along with obedient observance of the Constitution and Rules of the Congregation. Their Marian spirit is evidenced by their full-length blue habits, complete with Rosary and Miraculous Medal, while their spirituality is based on Total Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary as taught by St. Louis Marie de Montfort.

The apostolates of the Marian Sisters include teaching and parish work as well as promotion of Catholic publications. The Sisters staff a K-12 Catholic academy, a print shop, and a religious book store and mail order center in Spokane, Washington, as well as small schools in other parts of the country. In 1979, the Sisters also began making musical recordings as the “Singing Nuns,” a work which has proved to be a mission as well as a means of financial support. In all these ways, the Marian Sisters fulfill their end and purpose: the glory of God and the salvation of souls.

The sister of Mary Immaculate Queen are a sedevacantist religious order. Something to take into consideration.

Sisters of Our Mother of Divine Grace 

These three orders are in communion with Rome and were founded by sisters who came from the CMRI (which is not in communion).  All have very strong Marian devotions.

While the Sisters of Mary Immaculate Queen are a sedevacantist group that just really isn't Catholic, even though the trappings make it seem that way, there are a group of sisters, Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, (already noted in Kayte Postle's post) that left that order and now has full canonical standing with the Church and is recognized by their diocese.  They have kept their Marian charism intact.  What a brave and heroic group of sisters.

There is a fairly new order of religious sisters in the Archdiocese of Boston, the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, which has great Marian devotion. They live the spirituality of Nazareth, as they call it, and their apostolate is in performing corporal and spiritual works of mercy. This is the order's website: http://www.dmnazareth.org/

I'd say 90% of religious communities prominently feature devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Of the traditional ones, maybe 99% do. My point is, you may need something else to narrow down your search.

Yes...Carmelites have a strong devotion to Mary...They really are all Mary's.

Every order should--it's the mark of a faithful religious order.  The Dominicans are very Marian--there's a great quote I wrote down from a retreat by the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist:

"The Dominican soul is a Marian soul.  It is a universal law of the economy of salvation; the more devoted a soul is to Mary, the more Christian it is.  It is equally true to say that the more devoted a soul is to Mary, the more Dominican it is."

In fact, if a religious order does not have a devotion to Mary, that's kinda a red flag.

Just beware of hoisting those flags too quickly...

For example, my order is devoted to the Sacred Heart. Take a look at any of our websites, and that will be clear. You won't immediately see anything about Mary - for that, you have to delve deeper. Do that, and you'll discover that we have our own image - Mater Admirabilis - which is displayed in every Sacred Heart school or college around the world, and has its own feast day. Talk to Sacred Heart alumnae, and you'll probably hear that even decades after leaving school, they still have a devotion to Mater, nurtured when they were children. BUT this won't be immediately apparent as you surf around our sites, because our greatest devotion is to the Heart of Jesus - and this would be the same for many other orders dedicated to the Sacred Heart, or for example, the Trinity, the Cross, Providence or St Andrew and so on: Mary is there, but she's not the central focus.

And I rather think that Mary, like any loving mother, is very happy to let her Son take centre stage.
