I signed it, but I added an extra 2 to my "zip" code (we call it a postcode), since I don't live in the US. I didn't see anything about having to be American to sign.

they are kids from an orphanage in Miacatlan, Mexico that I'll be visiting again in august...

I guess it is because I think that in America, people have the right to pursue whatever makes them happy. If that means marrying someone of the same sex, then I don't think that anything should stand in the way of it. I of course would never expect, or want the Church to santify gay marriage, but as a strictly secular practice I think that people should be able to do it. This is of course only on the subject of gay marriage that I have a different religious and secular view, this cannot be applied to something like abortion since it is totally wrong both religiously and secularly. I think that people have the right to decide who they want to marry regardless of gender, and they also have the right to decide whether or not to adhere to the teachings of their faith.
