CreepyCrawler
1) Do you have to do something for an indulgence for your prayers to help those in purgatory or can you just pray for them? Do you have to say a set prayer or just whatever you want? 2)After you commit a mortal sin, the grace in your soul dies, right? But when you go to confession, does that amount of grace (sorry to quantify it) enter back into your soul or do you have to start over again at square one? BLAZEr
If you are trying to obtain an indulgence for people in purgatory then you have to do something that gains you an indulgence. It is not enough to just pray for the poor souls to get them an indulgence. "Where sin abounds, Grace abounds all the more." A mortal sins closes you off to full grace, but it does not "kill" grace in your soul. In fact, your repentence for a mortal sin and getting yourself to confession is grace! Grace is not like a power boost in a video game that gets emptied and then has to be filled back up. Grace is always full and can only get more and more plentiful!
