Solemn Mass

A solemn mass falls on a solemnity. A particular fest on the Church's calendar. Like the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the Solemnity of the Assumption, the Solemnity of the Body and the Blood, the Solemnity of the Holy Cross.

Sometimes you will see in a bulleting "Solemn Mass - 10:30" or whatever to desginate a mass where incense is used along with Gregorian chant and without guitars and liturgical dance, etc. But this is silly. Every mass has equal solemnity. There is no such thing as a "high" mass anymore. They are all "high masses".
