Aloysius
Okay, I am at a loss for exactly how to start up my Altar Call program. for an explanation of what Altar Call is go here: http://altarcall.i8.com/ anyway, I need help. I guess I need to come up with some sort of curriculum books or something. I don't know. I mean, if I could just telepathically let every priest know what the vision for this program was, then good priests all over i'm sure could make it exemplary in their parishes! I mean, if we had Fr. Karol Wvoitiwa (sp?) I'm sure he'd be perfect to head up a chapter of Altar Call. So I need suggestions. It's a great idea, everyone accepts that, i just need advice on how to implement it on a wide scale. by the way, the_rev, you're still my PR guy, right? Thy Geekdom Come
LOL Start with changing the font color...I have to highlight it to read it! I would seriously consider getting into contact with the Chancery of Bishop Bruskewitz of Lincoln, Nebraska. He has not permitted altar girls, as is his right as a bishop, because he believes he can get more vocations if he doesn't allow them. He's also one of the most respected of the more orthodox bishops.
Aloysius
#1 i was just looking for this in Open Mic when I realized i posted it in the wrong place. someone move pls thanx #2 actually, support has not as yet been a problem. i've talked to the vocational director of my diocese who is all for the idea. i just don't know exactly what I should do to IMPLEMENT it. I mean, i want it to spread all over the diocese and all over the country at that (still countin on the_rev to get us on Life on the Rock as soon as we have something substantial done on the project) so, i need suggestions on how to MATERIALIZE the idea. and as soon as I get a better server (catholic-church.org which my priest sent a letter to already) i'll probably end up with a better site design. pAx
Thy Geekdom Come
Well, let's see...how to implement it... You mean like guidebooks, pamphlets, advertisements and stuff? The Archdiocese of Omaha is one of the leading in the country for vocations (33 seminarians). You can write their vocations director at vocations@archomaha.org. We have a Catholic radio station in Omaha, and they will, I'm sure, help you get the news out. As for other things, I would run this through youth groups as well. Aloysius
first we need the guidebooks, i guess. i guess that's where i'm running into the problem. we can advertize all we want, we'll need to have something material to show people when they express interest in starting an Altar Call program at their Parish or Diocese. I guess i need some sort of curriculum book, and i tried to start writing one but i'm not sure if i can so i figured I could perhaps gather a group of people on PhatMass who could help me make one up. I was hopin to maybe go through all sorts of doctrines about the Mass and the Priesthood, maybe have an in depth course that goes through every section of the GIRM in depth or something... err... i donno. so i need help forming a VISIBLE program that can be implemented at parishes all over the country somehow...
