ICTHUS
A Reformed guy on Christian Guitar Resources recently asked me...
Is it possible, in your eyes, to believe that baptism makes us part of the Church (which reformed theology has pretty much always asserted), and yet deny baptismal regeneration/justification? If not, show where I am wrong in believing so, in the context of our union with Christ through baptism.
What are your thoughts, guys? p0lar_bear
umm....Catholics believe in baptismal regeneration...
Baptism not only purifies from all sins, but also makes the neophyte "a new creature," an adopted son of God, who has become a "partaker of the divine nature," member of Christ and co-heir with him, and a temple of the Holy Spirit (Catechism, 1265, citations omitted). Brother Adam
The whole point of salvation is to be united back into the body of Christ. This is what was lost in Eden and why we need a "savior" in the first place. Refomists totally forget this. Entering into the family of God and salvation are totally interconnected. To deny one is to deny the other.
