Getting ready for fall, days / years passing quickly...(as a child, they were s..l..o..w)

Thanks - I just wrote a little poem to go with a picture of a canning jar in our residents' newsletter.

 

This is a special time of year

with “back-to-school” and summer cheer.

A time to enjoy some last warm days

before the sunshine slips away.

 

We must work to preserve what we’ve grown

Whether with others or on our own.

 

Canning and freezing are pastimes now,

our shelves with foodstuffs to endow.

We know that winter’s down the road

& we’ll be glad for the good things we’ve stowed.

I think the topic, which can be a difficult one... those closest to Christ suffer the most. What lessons do we learn in suffering? Does hardship develop our character to be more like Christ? What do we benefit from it. A closer walk with Christ....
