hopeful1
Hi. I'm doing a presentation on mary for a christian club on campus, the majority of the students are probably nondenominationals and baptists, and a few 7thDA's. One of the major things i want to cover is her role as intercessor. I've found plenty of research to back me up so far, but i do have a question that i'm afraid someone will ask (in case if anything 'clicks' with them) and i won't really know how to answer. When is it appropriate or inappropriate to 'pray' to her? For example would you pray the Hail Mary before you give your petitions to God/Jesus? Is it inappropriate afterwards? (if that question made any sense). Is there anytime that's considered inappropriate? In what way could praying to her be considered too extreme? BLAZEr
It's never innapropriate to pray to Mary. She is your mother and your intercessor with Christ. Think of it this way: Let's say you have to get your dad's permission to do something. So before you go to your Dad you tell your mom so that she can "prepare" your dad for your question. And then you ask your dad and he says "I'm gonna think about it." Would it be wrong to then go back to your mom for more help? Of course not. Jesus wants us to bring our petitions to Mary because she reveals something about Him to us. She shows us the way to be perfectly open to God's will. And, she shows us how to love Christ and expect his intercession. She also helps us to be conformed to his will, both before we ask and afterwards.
