ilovechrist
my cousin is a soldier in Afghanistan right now... the war's so complicated right now i've lost my position on it. right now i'm trusting Bush to do what is right, and to help the Middle Eastern countries get back on track. crusader1234
I find it funny how people ask a question about the war and get answers about abortion. Tells you a lot about cough *cafeteria Catholics*
Aloysius
My post was about the war. However, another thing came up within the thread which i felt the need to adress: voting. That's why i mentioned that Kerry is pro-death. It is not against Catholic Teaching to be for the war if you believe it is justifyable. No one has prooven to me that Catholic Teaching is opposed to this particular war. And again, with the voting issue, it's not like Kerry could do anything different in Iraq now, it's too late. Crusader, please carefully consider before you throw out terms like "cafeteria Catholic"
Aloysius
by the way, this is Creepy Aliens, not the Debate Table. Simply discussing our opinions of the war- fine. I think it's possible to do that without debating, but if it's not i'll either lock this thread or move it to the debate table depending on what i feel like. Iacobus
I am agaisnt the 100%. I have been from the start. And about losing Bush and having Kerry came back, well pin the blame on the GOP. They are making a mistake in re noming Bush. He is a one term wonder.
Aloysius
:tries not to break own mod rule : if Kerry was in office he'd do nothing different with Iraq, so voting for him on the Iraq issue is illogical showing a simple prejudice you've developed for bush IMO. I am still for the war. I believe there was a need. There was unaccounted for weapons, a prooven link between Saddam and Al Quaida, and the simple fact that Saddam was a madman. I think regardless of what you thought of the timing and motives a good thing has been done for Iraq.
Iacobus
I am not voting for Kerry, but I can see Bush losing VERY easily. That is my personal prediction. Pres Kerry will be next year, saddly, if things stay the way that they are. I think the ghost weapons could have been fixed differently, well seeing as they didn't exist, lol. The link between Saddam and Al Quida is shaky. It rests on a Iraqi hospital giving treatment to a suspected terrorist. I am not sure how the lends guilt, they were in US Flight Schools, with FBI and CIA warnings about people in Flight Schools. So we are as guilty of haboring them as Iraq was using that case. Saddam was mad, but he had law and order. He never threatened the US. He never even killed a US Citizen outside of the wars. Heck we supported him in the 1980s against Iran. How does an ally go from ally to madman, without changing much.

Aloysius
the Al Quaida link is actually quite solid, there's at least 2 good books i've seen about it. they had about a 10 year long relationship. the weapons do exist. they found sarin gas. Bush gave Saddam a very clear ultimatum: SHOW US WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WMDs. We knew they were there at one point, we asked Saddam Hussein to provide us with the information as to what happened to them. If they were gone, all he had to do was show us where they went, the proof that he destroyed them or what. And i think i'll leave this up even if it is a debate, because it's a debate for only under 20's... lol it's an odd justification, but it's my decision. pAx
MorphRC
Its unjust, and was useless. The amount of money Bush is spending on Iraq alone, could solve so many problems in America, I read healthcare aint exactly 'civilized' their. Much like here, Howard could have spent that money on more hospital beds and nurses, instead of some schmuck in the middle east, which they could have taken out with missiles anyway, sooner or later.
