My fiance is swimming the Tiber on the Feast of St. Anselm.

Does anyone around here have any experience with the Anglican Ordinariate?

Yeah, I've been doing a lot of digging lately about the Ordinariate. He'll be joining when he makes his profession of faith, and I'll be going too once we're married.

We're also looking into using the Ordinariate rite of matrimony outside of mass, having my pastor officiate and receive our consent, and having his (soon to be former?) pastor preach. Because I promised myself I'd never become one of those brides who complicates everything according to her whims but WHOOPS guess I am.

I know to belong to the Ordinariate (and have your sacraments in it) you have to convert into it... like he would want to actually do his sacraments of initiation, in an ordinariate church. Or under their auspices. Me and my husband both being confirmed Latin Rite Catholics, can't switch, though obviously we can go to Mass there etc. You probably know this but just to mention.

That's basically what he's doing. He's making his profession of faith at a regular Roman church but because he's currently of a qualifying denomination he'll be able to apply for membership. I'll be eligible after we're married.

It's good to mention, though, because while regular Roman Catholics can't join the ordinariate unless they qualify, they can register as a non-ordinariate member at a local ordinariate parish. Which I guess just means their bishop is the local bishop and not Bishop Lopes? Sounds messy.

Nihil Obstat

I am somewhat familiar with the Ordinariate. There is one parish local to me and I am friendly with the priest there.
