They Stole Jesus

Brother Adam

"This is an extreme violation of the basis of our entire Catholic faith," Larry Prunty, who serves as chairman of the parish council, said Monday. "Without the tabernacle, our church is empty. They have taken the body of Christ from our church."

But the Church isn't empty! The body of Christ resides in each member of the Church. Christ is there!

True Brother Adam, but the physical Presence of Christ is gone and greatly missed. :sadder: This year was the first time I sat in church on Holy Thursday, and the feeling of "emptiness" with out Jesus in the Tabernacle was almost suffocating.

It is not the same thing.!

Christ is present Body Blood Soul and Divinity in the Tabernacle.
They have violated God!

SACRILEGE. The deliberate violation of sacred things. Sacred things are persons, places, and objects set aside publicly and by the Church's authority for the worship of God. The violation implies that a sacred thing is desecrated precisely in its sacred character. It is a sin against the virtue of religion.

Sacred places are violated by sacrilege through defilement, e.g., serious and unjust shedding of blood, as in willful homicide or by putting the sacred place (church or shrine) to unseemly use, e.g., secular trading, acts of debauchery; by grave theft from the Church or consecrated edifice; and by violating the immunity of a place as having the right of sanctuary.

Sacred objects are desecrated by sacrilege whenever something sacred is used for an unworthy purpose. This includes the Mass and the sacraments, along with sacramentals; sacred vessels and church furnishings; and ecclesiastical property. Desecration in each of these areas includes the deliberate invalid reception of the sacraments, simulation of Mass, grave irreverence to the Eucharist; gravely profane use of sacred vessels or vestments; and the unlawful seizure of sacred things or ecclesiastical property.

Sacrilege is many times reprobated in Sacred Scripture, notably in the second book of Maccabees and in the writings of St. Paul. Grave sacrilege in the Old Testament was punishable by death, and in the Catholic Church is considered a mortal sin. (Etym. Latin sacrilegium, the robbing of a temple, the stealing of sacred things.)

It is amazing how it's noticable. It's amazing that soooooo many Catholics don't believe in the real presence of Jesus. They should just sit in front of the tabernacle sometime and see how powerful it is.

:(

Reminds me of what I felt when my YG visited a church in Boca Raton that was almost finished (constructing) and though beautiful seemed empty...then we went a couple of months later and it was WOW because now Jesus was THERE...

CreepyCrawler

i think that's terrible, but i had to admit, i smiled when it said they stole saran wrap and aluminum foil. who is that desperate for foil?!

in the mean time, can't they set up a temporary tabernacle for Jesus to be present? that's better than not having Him there at all, right?

wouldn't it be cool if Jesus performed a miracle on the hearts of the thieves so that they gave up their lives of crime and turned to Him?... just a thought

My Rosary tomorrow will be dedicated to the return of all items, esp the tabernacle, and Body of Christ it contains.
.......I mourn bitterly.

Yeah, they can. The problem isn't so much the stolen Tabernacle as the fact that the consecrated hosts were still inside!
