Nunsuch
This is interesting, but I would want more detail, as I found this story frustrating. Consider this sentence, for example: " About two-thirds participated in Eucharistic Adoration, prayed the rosary, or attended retreats before entering." There is a HUGE difference here--a huge range of spiritual practice. For example, I know people who do not attend Adoration or pray the rosary, but who regularly go on retreats (largely silent or directed). Further, there are so many different TYPES of retreats. I guess this seems to be merging and blurring so many categories of spirituality.... So I will attempt to get ahold of the actual study, as this leaves me with more questions than answers. All I got from it was that those who enter religious life tend to pray. Well, yeah....

truthfinder
Just reading through the report now, one of the questions was how they had gotten to know of their community: someone responded "A Right to Be Merry." Not sure if it's just my perception, but that book certainly has a big affect on a lot of discerners.
